About the Artist

Artistic Vision

Tessa Dahlmann is a recent graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville with a BA in Art, concentration in painting. Working primarily in oil and self-portraiture, her practice is deeply shaped by traditional Indian textile patterns and Indian miniature paintings, influences visible in works like Masala Dubba and Miniature III.

Her work centers on decoding the complex relationship between herself and her own cultural identity: half Indian and half White. Through painting, she embraces her South Asian Indian culture while also recognizing her place as someone rooted in two different communities. This duality drives every brushstroke, every color choice, and every composition.
